We started with a camera and a question.
What if telling the truth, simply and honestly, could change things?
To use storytelling to connect Tanzanian communities with the people who can help them.
We go to communities that are rarely filmed, listen to people who are rarely heard, and make short documentaries that tell the truth about what life is like — and what is needed.
A Tanzania where no community suffers in silence because nobody knew they needed help.
We believe visibility is the first step to change. If the right people can see and hear what is happening in a community, they will respond. Our job is to make that connection.
Our values
Simple principles that guide everything we do.
Honesty
We show things as they are — not dramatised, not sanitised. Real people, real stories.
Dignity
Every community we film is treated with full respect. We tell stories with people, not about them.
Storytelling
We believe a well-told story can move hearts, shift perspectives, and open wallets.
Community
We are Tanzanian. We live here, we work here, we are invested in the outcome.
Hope
We document need but we always point toward possibility. Every film ends with a way forward.
How we got here
A short story — we are still writing it.
The Idea
A small group of Tanzanian filmmakers and community workers began asking: what if storytelling could be the bridge between need and help?
First Stories
We produced our first three short documentary films, visiting communities in Singida and Arusha. Small start, real impact.
First Partners
Three local churches joined us as community partners, helping us identify real needs and connect with families willing to share their stories.
Growing
We are now building our donor base, expanding our church network, and preparing for our first fundraising campaign. This is the beginning.
Officially Registered
The Asaphites Foundation is now an officially registered NGO in Tanzania. This marks the beginning of a new chapter — with a legal foundation to grow, raise funds, and serve communities with full credibility.
